v8.0 Stable

New Features

  • QuickQ can now play audio files in cue stacks. The Cue Stack Window has a button which when pressed reveals the Audio File column. Clicking on that will allow an audio file to be imported onto the console that will be played when the cue is triggered.

  • An audio output VU meter has been added to the top Toolbar. Tap it to change the volume of the output or mute it. The meter will show a muted icon when the output is muted.

  • The bottom right encoder can be used to adjust intensities of selected fixtures in the Layout Window, #27092.

  • The Intensity Window now has encoders to control the Intensity and the Intensity Mode attributes. This allows control of smoke machine fans from the window, #23636. The intensity encoder is only present on consoles with encoders.

  • The Effects Window now allows control of crossfade of effects. This allows snap changes or smooth fades or anything in between, opening up a whole new range of creative possibilities. #19566, #26638

  • The Effects Window has also gained direction controls. Effects can run backwards across a selection, from the centre out or in a random order. #26695

  • QuickQ can now check continuously for new RDM fixtures and patch them as soon as they are connected.

  • The new RigLock feature automatically changes RDM enabled fixtures' mode and DMX address back when they are changed.

  • The Blackout button on the console can now be used to set the speed of chases and effects. Once the settings has been enabled in the Settings Window you can hold down the Blackout button and tap a flash button or execute item to set it’s speed.

  • You can now set the timezone that the console is in. This means that scheduled events will respect Daylight Savings Time when required. The timezone can be set to UTC to keep the old behaviour. A factory reset will set the timezone back to UTC.

  • The Offline visualiser has an improved Design Mode making it easier to position fixtures and objects. Objects can easily be added, positioned, rotated and removed, while fixtures can be attached to trusses and pipes and arranged along them.

  • The effects engine now supports palette effects. You can select up to 4 palettes to use in an palette effect and they will be spread across the fixtures as with other effects. When a 2 palette effect is selected the Size control will become a Width control opening up even more creative possibilities.

  • The new Cue Faders Window allows you to see the names and state of the Cues that are saved onto the Multi Function Faders. Cues can be renamed and moved from the window. The window can be placed on the external monitor. The Cue Faders Window is not available on the QuickQ Rack.

  • You can now jump to a cue on a playback using MIDI. Sending a C3(48) MIDI note on channel 1 with the cue number as the level will cause playback 1 to jump to that cue. You can control all 10 playbacks on a QuickQ 20, 30 or Rack using notes 48-58. Note that you can only jump to whole numbered cues and only up to cue 127 due to limitations of the MIDI protocol.

User Interface Changes

  • The bank buttons in the Intensity Window are now tabs at the top of the window. When more then 20 fixtures are patched you can swipe right and left to move to their faders. The intensity of the fixture is displayed on the fixture select button when it is changed.

  • The buttons at the top of the Settings Window have been replaced by tabs to make it easier to explore the different groups of settings. You can switch between settings screens by swiping sideways.

  • The User Interface tab has been renamed Console.

  • The VU meters showing the incoming audio levels have been moved onto the Toolbar so it is always clear when audio is being received and played.

  • The 'RDM Auto Patch' option has been moved from the menu onto a button in the window.

  • There is a new RDM tab in the DMX Settings tab where the RigLock and continuous RDM scan options may be found.

  • The File Manager window now shows all files and folders. It also shows file sizes and can show the contents of USB Sticks.

    • When QuickQ is started up for the first time after upgrading the software it will show a notification offering to show these change notes.

  • The Events Window help message now explains that QuickQ will adjust for daylight savings time. If the timezone is set to 'UTC' (the default) the message will explain how to set the timezone.

  • Move actions now give clearer messages when they will not work, and should no longer fail silently.

  • You can now change directories in the File Manager window.

  • When the 'Newly created playbacks are chases' option was set a single cue on a playback would have chase timing, not cue timing. This is now fixed. #26527

  • The QR code PDF documents now have a smaller QR code and extra helpful text.

Bug Fixes

  • Selecting a group then recording to a playback without setting any attributes would cause that fader to control the intensities of the group until the console was restarted. This behaviour has now been fixed and a blank cue will be recorded instead.

  • QuickQ now resets Cue Stack rates to default when loading shows from MagicQ.

  • Items dragged too close to the edge could not be dragged back onto the screen in the Layout Window. #27937

  • You can no longer create new empty groups.

  • Installing QuickQ Designer should be faster, as should installing a new fixture library.

  • Manufacturers should now only appear once in the Add Fixtures Dialog.

  • Fix issue where cue stacks could not be moved to playback 10, #30253.

  • Fix reset when clicking All Cues in the Record Confirm Dialog, #30358.

  • Fix up file selection, file sizes and changing directories in the File Manager Window.

  • Fix issue where some fixtures would appear to flicker when the colours were changed in the Colour Window. #25265

  • Fix issue where a chase recorded to Playback 1 would not release properly until QuickQ was restarted. #30676

  • Fix issue where recently used fixtures would appear twice in the Add Fixtures Fixture List.

  • Ensure the default WiFi password has 8 characters. Previous default passwords had less characters and were rejected because they were too short.
