Network Devices Window
The Network Devices Window allows you to configure GeNetix, SnakeSys and other Art-Net devices so that they can output DMX from the console. It can also be used to load shows from other QuickQ consoles on the network. The Window can be opened by pressing > Network Devices.
QuickQ will automatically find devices connected to the Ethernet port. Some 3rd party DMX nodes do not respond to Art-Net queries and so QuickQ will not find them. It won’t find 3rd party devices that are on a different subnet to the console.
The Window shows the DMX outputs on the device and which Art-Net or sACN universe and QuickQ universe the output is sending.
Configure a Node to Output DMX from QuickQ
Once QuickQ has found a device it may be able to change the device’s settings. Press Configure Device to set the DMX outputs on the device to output DMX from the console. QuickQ may also be able to set the IP address if it is on the wrong subnet.
You can also set the name of the device and it’s IP address. QuickQ will not let you set the subnet to one that is different to the console. It will also not allow you to set invalid IP addresses.
Some 3rd Party devices do not allow remote configuration. QuickQ will display a warning if it tried to change a setting and it didn’t seem to work. |
Configure Device will also adjust the settings on GeNetix devices that have MIDI, timecode and 10Scene ports so that those ports will work with QuickQ. You could then plug a MIDI device into a GeNetix GN5 and use it to control a QuickQ, instead of plugging it directly into the console. |
Configure QuickQ to Output DMX From a Node
QuickQ can also change it’s DMX Settings to match the settings on the device. This is the most reliable way to get DMX output when there is just one DMX Node. Select the device by clicking on it in the top bar then press Configure QuickQ for this device. If QuickQ has more universes than the device has outputs you can choose which QuickQ universes you want the device to output. This can also be used to set up a QuickQ console to take control of another, see hot takeover for details.
Identify Devices
If you have a number of devices connected and you are not sure which one you have selected you press Identify to make the device light up while others dim. This can be especially useful for finding devices such as the GeNetix GW2.
